MDBDATA Log files

by =?Utf-8?B?Qm9iIEVuZ2xlcg==?= <BobEngler@[EMAIL PROTECTED] Dec 20, 2007 at 10:02 PM

I have MS Exchange 2003 that I just inheirited sup****t for. The server is a

HP Raid5 with 203GB total. I am down to 6.4GB free space. When I look at
the
C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\MDBDATA, it is using 177GB of space. The 3 .edb
files are about 16GB total and the 2 .stm files are about 19GB total and
the
rest, over
29,500 files, are .log files. I'm a linux guy thrown into the Windows
world
and it's the Holidays so I'm can't even find sup****t. Anything would be
greatly appreciated as I see the server running out of space about next
Friday. One sup****t person told me I would have to take the system offline

for 2 - 8 days to capture the "whitespace". When I look at the mailboxes,
I
see about 1.5 GB of deleted space. It is set to purge or whatever it's
called
in 7 days.

My question is...what are those log files and can I do something with them

to get space back. Some of them are from 2004. I will give up my Christmas
to
get something done as that and Thanksgiving are the only days we don't
work.

Thanks in advance......
