We currently have an instance of MCMS2002 as our external web site using a
separate back-end (SQL 2000). In preparation for a hardware upgrade, we'd
like to be able to migrate our existing instance over to another server
(both
the front-end and the back-end) and move from SQL2000 to SQL2005.
In order to accomplish this (and deal with other services we'll be moving
as
well), we need to move either the front-end or the back-end to free up a
server so we can use the freed up box as a "leap frog" machine while
swapping
services around (we're limited right now in the number of available
machines
for the moves).
My question(s) is which would be better to move first, and how? Is it
easier to move the front-end to another web server, or is it easier to
move
the back-end, and if the back-end, is there any issues with moving from
SQL2000 to SQL 2005? Will MCMS sup****t SQL2005?
We're eventually going to be moving away from MCMS to a better CMS system,
but for now we need to keep the existing system, but move it to new
servers.
Is there any do***entation on how to move the front-end and/or the
back-end?
Any help/advice on this would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks in advance,
- Dink
