Please forgive me for the lengthy post. I am trying to provide as much
detail as possible. We are running MCMS 2002 SP1a on a Win2003 Server
environment.
Recently some of our end-users are having problems editing postings they
have created. The error message they get is:
Save Placeholder Failed.
Error Details: Server error. Contact the site administrator.
Really useful error message there. The user in question has rights to the
channel they are creating the posting in (but not channels above it), and
has
no problems creating a new posting, only editing an existing one (even if
they are the creator of the posting). The user is able to open the
posting
for edit, but receives the error when she tries to save it. This user is
also an editor, which makes her able to approve postings.
We are using Telerik's RAD Editor on this template as well. An
administrator such as myself also gets this same error when trying to save
this user's posting, so there does not appear to be an issue with rights.
The user has zero rights to the resource gallery, and never has had
resource
gallery rights, so I'm not sure that this is an issue either. This
particular posting does not reference anything in the resource gallery.
This
problem just started happening for her recently. Not all postings get
this
error, some do not and the user is able to save them OK. Note that if we
delete the content from the RAD Editor then the posting will save, but
what
good is a blank posting? This leads me to believe it may be an MCMS<->RAD
Editor issue.
If we as admins create a new posting and re-type (not cut-and-paste) the
posting, the user is then able to save it. If we cut-and-paste from the
RAD
editor to a new posting, we are able to save and approve it but the user
is
not. We've successfully ex****ted the posting in question from our editing
environment to a test environment but are unable to duplicate the error in
the test environment.
